Metal Band of the Week: Austrian Death Machine
As much as I love the ultra-tough, crush-your-skull and melt-your-face-off bands, I also like when a band doesn’t take itself too seriously. As is the case with Austrian Death Machine, a side project of As I Lay Dying’s Tim Lambesis. The goal is to pretty much make the ultimate metal band by combining the following key components:
- A continuously fast paced tempo you can always circle pit to
- The obvious build up to a breakdown you’ll know how to mosh to
- Classic sing alongs you can pile up and sing along with
- A guitar solo in every song
- And of course… really angry singing!
But here’s the real kicker:
The lyrics are comprised of classic Arnold Schwarzenegger quotes.
Some example tracks from the album "Total Brutal" include "It’s Not a Tumor" and "Who Is Your Daddy, And What Does He Do?"
Despite being purposely clichéd, the album is actually pretty solid. You can bang your head around and laugh a little too.
