5 Great (and Free!) Mashup Albums
When I first heard a mashup remix a few years back, it sounded kind of strange to me. Now, I can’t get enough. Here’s five awesome albums featuring your favorite songs mashed together with your other favorite songs.
- Best of Bootie (2005, 2006 & 2007) by Various Artists
These are compilations of the best songs from the monthly mashup parties held across the world. They feature various artists, styles, etc. and you’re bound to hear some crazy stuff. What’s more, it serves as a jumping off point for discovering a lot of different mashup DJs. - MySplice 2.0: 2007 Mashed Up by team9
Pretty interesting combination of indie and pop artists. - 2.0 by Audiobytes for Autobots
One man with some spare time and alot of Garageband/Ableton toying can come up with a great mix. - Lactose and THC by Milkman
A student turned DJ with some madd skills. - The Hood Internet vs. Chicago (and anything else) by The Hood Internet
These guys do some of the craziest and most awesome mashups you’ll hear. Not only do they put out full-length "mixtapes", they are constantly releasing singles and even video mashups.
Honorable Mention: Night Ripper by Girl Talk
This is the guy who sparked my love of the mashup. This CD isn’t freely available for download, but that’s what the Internet is for, amirite? In any case, it’s a great album from a great DJ. Definitely worthy of your support, as are all the others in the list. Enjoy!

I think I just ran across his name in a blog comment. I hope he keeps making music, he’s one of the more skilled mashup DJs I’ve heard.
